La Grande Connais is situated two miles outside the village of St Georges de Reintembault on the Normandy/Brittany border. There are many beautiful places to visit nearby.‚Äč

Mont St Michel

The jewel in the crown is the stunning Mont St Michael which has been a place of pilgrimage for over 1300 years and today it still holds the same interest and fascination that it always has. No visit to this part of France is complete without a trip to The Mont and it is just 30 minutes away. 


Fougeres is just 20 minutes away and is home the most complete medieval castle in Europe. It has a weekly market, great restaurants, lively pavement cafes, and in the summer months often hosts cultural and music festivals, as well as an annual vintage car rally. 

It is well worth spending a day in St  Malo visiting the beautiful historic walled city, enjoying the freshly caught seafood and topping it off with a trip to the aquarium.    Carolles beach is a real favourite with guests for a day of family fun, as is the water park at Ange Michel which is just 15 minutes away

For all foodies a trip to Rennes market is a must. It is one of the biggest weekly food and flower markets in the country and you will find all kinds of locally produce including fish, seafood, cheeses, wines, ciders, fruit and vegetables, meat, jams, bread and cakes. It is a real treat and you will be spoilt for choice!

If you are wanting a quiet day and staying within 15 mins of La Grande Connais then a trip to the American Cemetry, a walk in Fougeres Forest or letting the children play in Fougeres lake are all nearby, as is a trip to the town of St Hilaire du Harcouet which also has a weekly market. Great  fun without going far at all!

If on the other hand you are looking for something a little more active, why not join a a guided tour and walk across the sand flats all the way to Mont St Michel? Or try your hand at sand surfing, horse riding, cycle rides or a walk along the old railway line. Children and adults alike can enjoy keeping fit in the glorious French countryside.
